Porsche 911 Hybrid Is Finally Happening
A hybrid model of the Porsche 911 has been rumored for a long time now. When the latest 911 chassis, the 992, debuted four decades ago, one of the huge conversing points was its gearbox, which has provisions for an electric powered motor. At the time, then-911 main engineer August Achleitner explained Porsche hadn’t committed to truly making a hybrid, still much has altered considering that November 2018. 1993 Sports Car Comparison Test
From the May 1993 issue of Car and Driver. If history and ad copywriters had shown a little respect for the term “sports car,” perhaps “budget sports car” would be recognized today as the redundancy it out to be. In the dawn of sports-car time, post-war Europe needed cheap transportation and couldn’t pay extra for fun. As any secondhand Maserati owner can testify to, what seems like a wonderful slice of exciting motoring, a supposed bona fide investment, may lead to financial ruin.…

It is widely regarded within the motoring community that the Porsche 911 is the best sports car on the planet. The original design may be from the VW Beetle, but many automakers are still building sports cars to rival the 911 – most of which fail to get near the Porsche’s performance, build quality, and engineering. The original 911 was nothing more than a fancier VW Beetle, before turning into the absolute monster which was the 930 Turbo – known as the ‘Widow Maker’ thanks to the immense turbo lag which would kick in all the boost at the same time. The 911 systematically became better and better over 20…

Jaguar Mark 2 Was, Is a Revelation
It’s easy to see why the Jaguar Mark 2 became so beloved, regularly filling vintage racing grids, auction house lots, car show lawns, and top-10 lists of the greatest sports sedans of all time. This is the original, after all: a four-door with the power and poise to keep up with sports cars, plus luxury in abundance. In post-War Britain it was a revelation. It still is today. Like many automakers in the Thirties and Forties, Jaguar was conscripted into supporting the War effort, but founder Sir William Lyons always had an eye on the future. The story goes that he and his engineers worked on a new straight-six during…
