10 Unreliable Jeeps We Wouldn’t Waste Our Money On
As a brand, the popularity of Jeep is enormous, especially in the US. Its vehicles are well known for being tough and long-lasting. Add to this their ability to drive anywhere, whether it be a daily cruiser or something to take off-road and explore the great outdoors. Jeeps seem to have a knack for dealing with some of the most awkward situations with surprising mastery. For a Jeep, tackling terrain that was never meant for a vehicle is as easy as eating a pie. As much as they have made some great models over the years like the family-adventure-ready Grand Cherokee, the off-road-ready Wrangler, or the super-popular Cherokee, some come…

The Last Jeep Cherokee Rolls Off the Line At Belvidere Plant
Photo: Scott Olson (Getty Images) After a six-year run at the Belvidere Assembly Plant, Jeep Cherokee production is coming to an end. What could turn out to be the last Jeep Cherokee ever rolled off the assembly line on Tuesday, as Autoblog reports, and the Belvidere Plant has gone idle. The future of the Cherokee is now in question, as well as that of the Illinois plant and the 2,300 workers affected by Stellantis idling Belvidere. Jeep Cherokee production winding down is hardly a surprise at this point: Stellantis had announced it would be idling Belvidere in December of last year. Sales of the Jeep Cherokee have been declining steadily…

Junkyard Gem: 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Jeep, then part of the American Motors Corporation, introduced the unibody XJ Cherokee for the 1984 model year, and suddenly there was a tough-looking truck that drove like a car and got much better fuel economy than the rest of the truck world. Ford responded with the Explorer SUV for 1991, and suddenly commuter trucks were everywhere. Even before Chrysler bought AMC in 1987, a snazzier successor to the Cherokee was being cooked up in Kenosha; it debuted in the 1993 model year and was an instant sales success. Here’s one of those first-year Grand Cherokees, found in a Colorado wrecking yard last fall. The Grand Cherokee had a wheelbase…

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler offers two new factory-installed options: washout floors and weatherproof seats. The heavy-duty flooring ($995) and heavy-duty seats ($1695) are now available to order on certain four-door Wranglers. Jeep appears to be responding to similar features already available on the Ford Bronco. Jeep fans might want to start appreciating the Ford Bronco a little more. After all, it appears the Wrangler’s biggest rival is influencing the brand to introduce noteworthy features, such as the washout floors and weatherproof seats that are now available as factory options on certain four-door models. Weatherproofing the Wrangler When the Bronco debuted a couple years ago, it could be outfitted with factory-installed…

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Review: I6 Sense
Design | Comfort | Tech | Performance | Safety | Fuel Economy | Pricing | FAQ Verdict 8.6 / 10 I don’t mean to speak ill of the dying, but the Jeep Grand Wagoneer’s 6.4-liter V8 was probably not the best choice for a flagship SUV. Perfectly at home in muscle cars and pickup trucks, the 471-horsepower Hemi wasn’t quite energetic or refined enough for a 6,000-plus-pound luxury SUV. The 2023 Grand Wagoneer’s new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six, though, feels tailor-made for premium duty. In high-output guise (exclusive to the Grand member of the Wagoneer family), it packs 510 hp and 500 pound-feet of torque with a smooth, quiet charm. This…
